FLORA WONDER ARBORETUM

This world-renowned collection of trees and shrubs began in 1980. The owner, Talon Buchholz, purchased property in various stages and started collecting trees in 1981. The first purchase was six Japanese maples from J.D. Vertrees, some of which are still in the arboretum.

To fund the collection Buchholz and Buchholz Nursery was founded, and a symbiotic relationship between the two entities continues to this day.

Mr. Buchholz and his employees travel to the best corners of the world to study and collect plants. Many of the world's best nurseries and plant collections acquire plant material from the Flora Wonder Arboretum. In addition, many choice plant introductions from Flora Wonder are distributed via Buchholz & Buchholz Nursery to plant enthusiasts throughout the world.

The plant collection is one of the most special places on earth, and provides infinite marvel at the incredible diversity of plants. Began as a hobby, it is now a way of life.

"Flora" was the Roman Goddess of plants. "Wonder" is derived from German, meaning the feeling of surprise, admiration and awe. Together they form the two most beautiful words in the English language: Flora Wonder.
